Returning to the Basics<\/p>\n
The world of art is also a world of fantasies, between the headlines about recordbreaking
\nsales and the fear of a \u00abbubble burst,\u00bb reflecting financial speculation that
\nonly involves a very small portion of the players. In the face of this understandable
\napprehension, it is important for everyone to find their role. Artists create. Gallery owners
\nand dealers discover them, support them, make them known, and, naturally, sell their
\nwork. Collectors buy, primarily out of a \u00ablove at first sight\u00bb and not with the primary aim
\nof making a financial profit.<\/p>\n
An idyllic vision ? Perhaps… or perhaps not. The vast majority of players in the art world we
\nencounter\u2014and to whom we give a voice\u2014are first and foremost sincere enthusiasts of artistic
\ncreation. From a first purchase\u2014often not entirely reasonable\u2014to the collection of several
\ndozen works\u2014which is no less so\u2014acquirers are no different. As Keith Haring said, \u00abArt is not
\nan elitist activity reserved for the appreciation of a small number of connoisseurs; it is for
\neveryone.\u00bb This conviction is also ours, and we advocate for it every month, as despite the
\ndoubts, we have chosen to return to being a monthly publication to be as close as possible
\nto the rich and fascinating world of art.<\/p>\n
